Kelsey Hatcher, an American woman with a rare birth defect called a “didelphus uterus,” has given birth to two daughters, Roxi and Rebel, each from a different uterus, Sky News reports.
This condition, which affects only 0.3% of women, was discovered during a routine ultrasound. Maternal-fetal medicine specialist Dr. Richard Davis said the chances of getting pregnant in each uterus are about one in a million. Despite a high-risk pregnancy, the delivery went well with both girls born 10 hours apart.
The babies are considered fraternal twins, likely due to separate ovulation in each fallopian tube.
