In France, an experiment will be launched in 2024 to test the addition of QR codes on medicine boxes, as part of an ecological planning strategy for the health system. The experiment, which will last one year, will begin in the first quarter of 2024 and will concern a panel of selected drugs.
In hospitals, paper instructions will be immediately removed, while in community pharmacies, a QR code will be added to the box, linking to enhanced information online. The objective is to evaluate the appropriation of the QR code by patients and, depending on the results, this could evolve towards the elimination of the paper leaflet. Solutions are being considered for the future, including the provision of paper notices for people who have difficulty accessing digital information.
In addition, a new methodology for calculating the carbon footprint of health products will be developed in 2024.
