A small revolution has occurred in the field of condoms for men and women, invented by a Malaysian gynecologist. Called Wondaleaf, this condom is simply a polyurethane with an adhesive strip on one side for attaching to the vagina or penis. However, the invention could contribute to better prevention of sexually transmitted infections and unwanted pregnancies by offering couples more options.
This condom, available on the Malaysian market, has undergone an efficacy study showing a protection rate of 97.4%, a higher result than most conventional condoms. This originality and effectiveness come at a price: the equivalent of €3.11 for a box of two. The company that manufactures this condom hopes to soon obtain the certification that will allow it to be exported.
