For the 20th consecutive year, France Rein is organizing World Kidney Week to inform and raise awareness about chronic kidney disease and offer free screenings throughout France.



Subtle warning signs

One in ten people in France is affected by kidney disease. A scourge that continues to grow by approximately 2% per year. Our kidneys are essential to life. But when they fail, the warning signs can be subtle, or even absent.



Late symptoms

Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a silent disease. The first symptoms only appear at an advanced stage of kidney damage. Each year, approximately 11,000 people learn that they are suffering from end-stage kidney failure and must go directly on dialysis to compensate for the collapse of kidney function.


The Importance of Early Detection

Early detection allows for appropriate treatment that will slow, or even stop, the progression of the disease toward kidney failure. Take care of your kidneys by eating a balanced diet to avoid being overweight. Obesity is a risk factor for kidney disease.



Take Care of Your Kidneys

Also combat a sedentary lifestyle by engaging in physical activity appropriate for your age. Drink the necessary amount of water (at least 1.5 liters per day) spread throughout the day to support your kidneys. Avoid smoking and don't eat too much salt, as excess salt promotes hypertension. Beware of overconsumption of store-bought ready-made meals.
