On May 15, 2024, World Orthodontics Day will take place, dedicated to prevention and information, particularly for parents and young children.
Know the age for the first date
The Opinion Way study for the SFSO (French Union of Specialists in Orthodontics) carried out in March 2024 reveals that 1 in 2 French people are unaware that the age of the first appointment must take place between 6 and 9 years old, with teeth of milk or mixed, in order to detect anomalies in the position of the teeth.
The importance of early treatment
Treatment must be early to avoid later extractions of adult teeth to make room, for better mobility of the teeth while the jaw is growing, to avoid a longer and more painful treatment and also more expensive.
Free diagnostic consultations
On this occasion, from May 13 to 18, 2024, the SFSO is offering a week of free diagnostic consultations throughout France with committed orthodontists. Diagnosing at 6 to 9 years of age is the right time because early treatment can limit the duration of many treatments, lower the financial cost of the latter for the community and families, facilitate compliance for patients and relieve practices which are facing an unprecedented influx of patients.
