Almerys, a third-party payment specialist, suffered a cyberattack yesterday endangering the data of its policyholders, just five days after a similar attack against its competitor Viamedis. The attack compromised the accounts of certain healthcare professionals who are customers of the service, facilitating access to the Almerys portal. Personal data of policyholders was exposed, although the exact number of people affected remains unknown.
The compromised data includes the name, first name, date of birth, birth order, Social Security number, name of the health insurer, insurer contract number and an internal reference. Almerys clarified that banking information, medical data, health reimbursement details, postal details, telephone numbers and email addresses were not affected.
Almerys has closed access to its portal for healthcare professionals, but its other services continue to operate normally. Remember that Viamedis, which manages third-party payment for 20 million policyholders, was also the victim of a cyberattack last week.
