Through their department dedicated to patient and consumer relations, Pierre Fabre Laboratories unveil the new 2023/2024 results of the Sun Assessment Family Experience (SAFE) program aimed at better understanding the reasons for poor compliance with sun prevention instructions.
Only one in five people follow the instructions
According to the study, 95% of people surveyed understand the messages, but only 1 in 5 people actually respect them. Awareness campaigns do not produce the expected effects. 3 out of 4 people do not apply sunscreen every two hours due to simple forgetfulness or consider it too tedious.
Young people are those who are most exposed
According to the WHO, 1 in 3 cancers diagnosed is skin cancer and in Europe, it is one of the most common cancers among young people because they seem to be unaware of the consequences of their sun exposure. Melanoma is a visible cancer, on which we can act before arriving at serious diagnoses. But for that, you have to know the risk.
An information and protection page
The Pierre Fabre teams heard the approach in Europe by working with Spanish and German students. All of their feedback is shared with the general public and patient associations on the page
