The end-of-life bill was presented to the Council of Ministers on Wednesday by the Minister of Health, Catherine Vautrin. This reform aims to set up “support homes” for people at the end of their lives.
These structures will accommodate patients who are no longer covered by a hospital service but cannot return home. Although these houses do not yet exist, they will be developed in partnership with associations and communities. The annual operation of these houses will be covered.
A special commission will meet to determine appointments to key positions and establish a work schedule. MoDem deputy Olivier Falorni, a fervent defender of the legalization of euthanasia and assisted suicide, is being considered for the central position of general rapporteur.
