As the flu begins to spread in three French regions, vaccination figures are disappointing. The Minister of Health, Aurélien Rousseau, urges an increase in vaccination, especially as the Christmas holidays approach. Pharmacists are surprised by the lack of interest in the flu vaccine.
Flu consultations are on the rise in Auvergne Rhône-Alpes, Ile de France and Alpes Côte-d’Azur, indicating that other regions could soon be affected.
Since mid-October, people at risk have been encouraged to be vaccinated, but pharmacists are concerned. Compared to the previous year, the number of vaccinations has decreased: just over 8 million doses had been administered last year on the 43rd day of the vaccination campaign, a drop of 6% this year.
Health authorities point out that the vaccine is accessible to everyone, but that it is particularly recommended for people over 65, people with chronic illnesses, immunocompromised people, obese or pregnant people.
