To mark National Air Quality Day, Murprotec, a company specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of humidity and indoor air quality, is releasing the results of a major Health & Housing survey conducted in partnership with RespiLab, the living lab of the French Respiratory Health Association.
New Cases of Serious Illnesses While the French spend 80% of their time indoors (homes, workplaces, cars, public transport, etc.), indoor pollution is having a devastating impact on the population, with an undeniable finding: indoor air, 5 to 9 times more polluted than outdoor air, causes more than 20,000 deaths and more than 28,000 new cases of serious illnesses each year in France.
Preventing and Avoiding the Onset of Illness The survey highlights a need for information and awareness campaigns targeting three main groups: people with respiratory insufficiency and their caregivers to adopt best practices, healthcare professionals so they can provide reliable information, and the general public to prevent and avoid the onset of illness.
A Need for Reliable Information 67% of respondents expect reliable information from healthcare professionals (doctors, associations, etc.), and 57% would like to be informed through official websites (government, learned medical societies, etc.). 45% of respondents also expressed a need for information from the media.
