After the digital identity card, it's time for the smartphone-based Carte Vitale. Since March 11, it has been possible to present your Carte Vitale via your mobile phone, announced Guillaume Rozier, advisor to President Emmanuel Macron, on X.
"Starting today, with France Identité, you can digitalize your Carte Vitale," he declared. "The State is continuing its modernization. Let's encourage healthcare professionals to equip themselves to scan QR codes."
Available on all platforms, the Carte Vitale app requires a digital identity card. Unlike the physical version, it updates automatically when the healthcare professional uses it, according to the French Health Insurance Agency.
First tested in around ten departments, its deployment was approved in early 2023 by the CNIL, provided the user can be supported by their health insurance fund.
Finally, as with identity documents, the use of the digital Carte Vitale is optional. Users can still use the physical version or treatment forms to obtain reimbursements.
