From this Friday, French people who are going through a very difficult psychological moment will be able to immediately find an answer to their discomfort via the telephone number 3114 “Suicide Prevention”. This new toll-free number should complement the VigilanS “recall and follow-up system for people who have attempted suicide”, created in 2015 in Hauts-de-France.
An immediate response to people in psychological distress
Free, accessible 7 days a week, 24 hours a day, from all over the country, this new toll-free number will allow you to speak directly to psychiatry and mental health professionals. Psychiatrists, specialized nurses and specifically trained psychologists can help people who have dark thoughts and morbid thoughts.
According to the Minister of Health, Olivier Véran, suicide is in France "the second cause of death among young people in our country after road accidents".
