Covid-19 is difficult to bear psychologically for each of us. However, a recent study shows that women are more sensitive to isolation resulting from confinements than men.
Women more anxious and depressed
More specifically, confined women tend to experience more anxiety, trauma or depression. Furthermore, they express more of their attention and care for others, which makes the health situation more serious for their psychological state. These differences are also observed in the quality of sleep, which is worse in women than in men during this period.
A greater mental load
These conclusions come from a survey carried out in Canada on 573 people. The differences have been interpreted by the fact that women generally have more mental load to manage the family situation during this crisis.
Everyone affected over time
However, if women are more affected, it is also all of the people interviewed who saw an increase in signs of psychological distress and sleep disorders and these phenomena increased as the confinements lasted.
