Health Insurance has announced the establishment of a free annual dental check-up for 3-24 year olds, effective in 2025, aiming for a “cavity-free generation”. Currently, these assessments are available every three years and benefit around two million young people.
Marguerite Cazeneuve, deputy director of Health Insurance, believes that this measure can preserve the dental capital of young people. These consultations include an oral examination and possible treatment. The increased frequency of check-ups aims to further reduce the rate of cavities among young people.
Health Insurance also plans awareness-raising actions in schools and among populations far from dental care, particularly in priority educational establishments. This initiative is distinct from recent reductions in reimbursement for dental care, despite the concerns of mutual insurance companies.
