The DGCCRF recently warned about the quality of tattoo inks. Of 34 products checked, a third were found to be non-compliant or dangerous, some containing lead above the authorized threshold. Other products were non-sterile, exposing tattooed people to infections.
These worrying results come from analyzes carried out by the DGCCRF and Customs laboratory. Samples were taken from importers, wholesalers and on websites. The checks, which began in the second half of 2023, are part of a joint European action and are therefore still partial.
The objective is to identify as much as possible what has been disseminated on the market, by identifying the companies which may have purchased it or by disseminating information to the structured federations.
