Smoking is the leading cause of preventable death in France. Each year, it is responsible for 75,000 deaths, including 46,000 from cancer.

Reduce the compulsive need to smoke
Out of 18 studies carried out in recent years, 17 highlight the effectiveness of physical activity in reducing the compulsive urge to smoke. Based on these results, the City of Paris and the National Cancer Institute are launching a program in January, accessible to all people who consume tobacco regularly and wish to quit smoking, to support them in quitting through physical activity. adapted.

Improved cardiorespiratory capacity
The expected benefits of this activity are numerous: fight against compulsive smoking, improvement of cardiorespiratory capacity and heart rate, improvement of physical condition and reduction of weight gain, release of stress and fight against isolation.< br>
A program accessible on medical prescription
For this first phase, 50 to 60 participants will be selected to enter the program, accessible on medical prescription, an interview to assess the participant's motivation as well as their physical abilities in order to offer them activities adapted to their abilities. The program will take place over 6 months, with 3 weekly physical activity sessions of 45 minutes to 1 hour.
