Researchers have looked at the impact of electronic cigarettes on the male urogenital system. However, the results still need to be confirmed.
Around three million French people have adopted electronic cigarettes to reduce their tobacco consumption, because e-liquids seem less harmful than cigarette smoke. A recent study exposed rats to cigarette and e-cigarette smoke, revealing alterations in the testicles, although motility and sperm count were not significantly affected.
However, it should be noted that this study has some limitations. For example, although e-cigarette smoke was used in aerosol form, no biochemical analysis of the liquid was performed. A biochemical analysis of the e-liquid may be necessary to evaluate the results more precisely.
